David "Buck" BuchananDavid Lonas "Buck" Buchanan, 83, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born September 19, 1937 in Anderson, he was the son of the late James L. Buchanan and Lois Dodgens Buchanan. Buck was a graduate of Anderson Boys High and retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass after 35 years of dedicated service to the company. His interests included Bluegrass music, photography, a special affinity for airplanes and he loved the Atlanta Braves and Clemson Tigers! Buck's family meant the world to him and he had a special love for his grandchildren. He was a member of Orrville Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Brenda King Buchanan; son, Sonny Bratcher (Tiffany) of Anderson; daughter Angela Carr of Anderson; brother, Melvin Buchanan (Patti) of Silver Springs, FL; grandchildren, Kristen Owens Smith (Brad), Gracelyn Bratcher, and Zachary Bratcher; and great-grandchildren, Ashlyn and Kyndall Smith. He is also survived by his two beautiful fur-babies, Bella Blue and Chalupa. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 25, 2020 from 12:00-1:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with Reverend Dr. Wendell Bannister officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Varennes Heights Baptist Church Child Development Center, 411 Visage Dr., Anderson, SC 29626. The family will be at the residence.
