Obituary

Charles David Dickerson, age 70, of 302 Corning Street, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 18, 2017, with his family by his side. Born in Gadsden, AL on February 9, 1947, he was the son of the late Clarence Dickerson and the late Mildred Louise Smith Dickerson. He was a graduate of McDuffie High School and attended Forrest College. Mr. Dickerson proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps where he was assigned duty in Vietnam. He was a recipient of the Combat Action Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnamese Service Campaign Medal. David was employed by Ryan's Steakhouses where he was a regional supervisor. Later, he became a long haul truck driver. Mr. Dickerson was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple. Survivors include two sons, Jamie D. Dickerson and his wife Steffanie, and Jason D. Dickerson and his wife Carolyn, both of Anderson; three grandchildren, Jared, Cassidy and Montgomery Dickerson; and a brother, Glenn Dickerson and his wife, Pat, of Anderson. A Graveside Service to celebrate and honor the life of David Dickerson will be held at the Committal Shelter at M. J. "Dolly" Cooper Veteran's Cemetery on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Sam Duncan officiating. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Mr. Dickerson may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
