David Haynie Ellison, age 72, of Anderson, SC, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021, at his home. Born October 28, 1948 in Anderson, he was the son of the late Haynie Charlie Ellison and Lois Culbertson Ellison. He was married to the late Martha Toney Ellison. David was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. During his service, he was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Marksmanship Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Certificate of Commendation, and the Meritorious Mast. He was retired from Duke Energy. He is survived by his sons, Derek and Brad West; daughter, Mandi Vaughn; sisters, Mary Fitzgerald, Frances Jordan, Evelyn Revis, Ellen Cogdill, and Myra Owens; half-brother, Waymon White; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren with one on the way; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved puppy, Juju. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Ellison; and half-brother, Ralph White. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 20, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday, May 21st at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. John Revis and Rev. Shannon Powell officiating. Interment will be at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675. The family will be at their respective homes.
