Obituary

David George Thomas passed away on December 20, 2018 at the age of 94. Born in Lorain, Ohio on September 5, 1924, he is survived by his wife, Virginia, his daughter, Diana, and grandchildren, Rebecca, and David Witmer (wife, Kelsey), and five nieces and nephews and their several children. David served as a Lieutenant JG in the Navy in World War II as a member of the Scouts and Raiders division in the South China Sea. He is best remembered for his contributions to the field of aquatics as an author of several books on swimming and swimming pool chemistry, as a swimming pool designer, and as a water chemist. Many around Anderson also remember his swimming style which was often labeled "poetry in motion". As a teacher and professor of swimming, scuba diving, and sailing, and as a swimming coach he was well loved by all of his students. He also contributed to the community as a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club and Central Presbyterian Church. His droll sense of humor and kind heart will be sorely missed. A private family service will be held. A message of condolence may be sent by visiting www.mcdougaldfuneralhome.com.
