Obituary

David Miles Marett, age 63, of Townville, SC, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 doing what he loved at Talledega Superspeedway. Born June 16, 1957 in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Harold M. Marett and Othella Moore Marett. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Greg M. Marett and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Cowboy was employed with UPS for many years until he left to take care of his mother and still had many friends there. He was a member of the NASCAR Race Recovery Team, a certified Scuba diver, and a volunteer fireman with Sandy Springs Volunteer Fire Department where he enjoyed serving his community. Through his service with the fire department, he was able to be Santa Clause in the Denver Downs Christmas Parade each year. Cowboy also volunteered his time with Haven of Rest where he would help deliver holiday meals. David also assisted in the operation of the Tiger Cove Campground & Grill on Lake Hartwell. Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life, Becky Lash. He will also be missed by his many friends, and fire department and NASCAR family. A visitation will be held Monday, May 3, 2021, from 11:30am-1:30pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Old Silver Brook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 E Calhoun St, Anderson, SC 29621.
