David E. Owensby went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 28, 2016. Originally from Gaffney, SC, David served in the US Navy, worked in construction for several years, was a pastor for many years and owned his own restaurant business. He was a faithful member of Covenant Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Kim, his sons Jared; Brent and Brad with their spouses Glenda and Bridget; grandchildren Leanne, Lauren, Neeley, Jordan and McKenzie; and siblings Ann Parker, Linda Raines, Jane Waters, Mary Phillips along with their spouses, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Inez Jefferies and brother, Windell Wilkins. A funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mr. Owensby will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at 3 p.m. at Covenant Baptist Church, with Reverend Dr. Steve Silvey officiating. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at Covenant Baptist Church on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at South Lawn Memorial Gardens.
