David Lawrence Roberts, age 76, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016 at his residence. Born in Anderson, SC on January 5, 1940, he was the son of the late R.D. Roberts and the late Iness Elrod Roberts. For 55 years, he was the loving husband of Jimmie Sue Elgin Roberts. David was a building contractor for his entire career. His family was very special to him and it was always evident how much he loved them. In addition to his wife, David is survived by a son, Mark Roberts; two daughters, Diana Keown (Mitch), and Kelly Roberts; two brothers, Jack Roberts (Joan), Roy Roberts (Sheila); five sisters, Carolyn Smith (Rick), Wilda Ethridge, Sara Hawkins (Joe), Becky Berry (Floyd), and Pam Wheeler (Hal); four grandchildren, Mason T. Owens, Savanna K. Brown, Jared Keown, and Hunter Tidwell; and two great-grandchildren, Maddison and Sullivan Owens. David was preceded in death by a son, Steve L. Roberts; a granddaughter, Maegan Owens; a brother, Danny Roberts, and a sister, Reba Roberts. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 2:00pm, with Rev. Charles Marcy officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
