The McDougald Funeral Home 2211 North Main Street Anderson, South Carolina 29621 864-224-4343 OBITUARY: WITH PHOTO GREENVILLE, SC DAVID SHEDD August 30, 1947 - April 6, 2013 James David Shedd, Sr, age 65, of 111 Cartee Avenue, Greenville, passed away at his residence on Saturday, April 6, 2013, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late James Gibson Shedd and the late Nancy Irene Bonds Shedd. For 27 years he was the loving and devoted husband of Sandra Balentine Shedd of the home. David's life was a beautiful life, filled with the love of friends and family. By vocation he was a painting contractor working in residential and commercial construction. But perhaps what he enjoyed most was his ownership, along with wife, Sandra, of Sugardoo's Restaurant and Lounge in Piedmont, and Dink's Restaurant and Lounge in Anderson, where he enjoyed his friends and "hickeydoos." David was a Mason, with membership in Hejaz Shrine-Golden Strip Shrine Club in Mauldin. In addition to his wife, Sandra, David leaves behind to carry on his legacy a son, Dale Donahue of Piedmont; 3 daughters, Gail Elledge and her husband, Ray, of Laurens, Joy Chafin of Anderson, and Angie Gillespie and her husband, Billy, of Honea Path; a brother, Johnny Shedd and his wife, Becky, of Anderson; 2 sisters, Peggy Montague and husband, Robert, and Linda Shaw and husband, Ronnie, both of Anderson; also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Shedd was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons, James David "Dink" Shedd, Jr. and Joseph Bryan Shedd; and 3 brothers, Jerry, Ray and Wayne Shedd. A service to honor and celebrate the very wonderful life of David Shedd will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at 2 PM at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with his daughter, Gail Elledge officiating. Music will be provided by several friends. David will be transported to Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum for entombment in his white GMC truck, White Lightning. The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, from 6 PM until 8 PM.
