David Delano Thomas, age 85, of Anderson, SC, entered into the church triumphant on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, upon his death at Rainey Hospice House. Born April 9, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Dr. Delano Thomas and Lillian Grace Bailey Thomas. David was a lieutenant in the United States Air Force having served from 1957-1960 with the Air Defense Command. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Ohio Wesleyan University and his Master of Business Administration from Kent State University. David was a certified personnel employment consultant and received two national awards for his outstanding performance in his field. During his career, he spent 10 years with Republic Steel Corporation in Warren, OH. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and as a funeral usher and greeter for funerals conducted at the church. In his spare time, David enjoyed playing tennis. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Jane Wallace Thomas of the home; daughters, Kathryn Thomas Heagerty (Mark) of Canfield, OH, and Karen Thomas Hensley (David) of Statesville, NC; grandchildren, Katherine Buente (Adam), Kevin Heagerty (Kristyn), Megan Heagerty, Seth Hensley, and Cullen Hensley; and great-grandchildren, Jack Victor Buente, and Charlotte Rose Heagerty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his previous wife, Janet Weller Thomas; and sister, Betty von Maur. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. David J. Bailey officiating. Social distancing will be observed and masks are recommended. Contributions in memory of Mr. David Thomas may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 1404 N. Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621.
