Frances Delores Yon "Dee" Steely, age 86, of Anderson, SC, loving wife to the late Robert Lee Steely until his death in 2003, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born February 2, 1935, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Reece Benson Yon and Willie Mae Watson Yon. Dee affectionately known as "Mama Dee" was a graduate of Girls High Class of 1953. She was a former private pilot, member of the Ninety-Nines Women's Pilot Group and a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. She loved living on Broadway Lake, was an avid bridge player who enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and loved going to Disney World. She was a member of the Upstate Church of Christ. She is survived by her children, Sandy Steely, and John Steely (Kristen); siblings, Mary Yon Alewine (Bill), Robert Yon (Freida) and their families; brother-in-law, Tommy Steely; and her favorite grand-dog, Chuppy. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 14, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 15, at 2:00 p.m. at New Silver Brook Cemetery.
