Marvin Dendy Clardy, age 78, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at his home.
Born October 8, 1945, in Williamston, SC, he was a son of the late Marvin Preston Clardy and Ruby Dunlap Clardy. He was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Dendy was a graduate of Palmetto High School where he played football and was a graduate of Limestone College. He retired from Duke Energy after 35 years of faithful service to the company. He was always involved in his children's lives and coached his son's little league football, baseball, and basketball teams. He was an avid traveler and Clemson Tiger fan and enjoyed making his own bullets. He loved meeting new people and making friends. Dendy was a mason and member of the Pendleton Masonic Lodge and a past master of the Seneca Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher and was a member of the Happy Warriors Sunday School Class. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was faithful to God, his career, his wife, his family, and his children.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Cheryl Fields Clardy; son, Mike Clardy (Michelle) of Williamston, SC; daughter, Allison Callahan of Sugar Hill, GA; grandchildren, Morgan McConnell, Colton Clardy, Chandler Clardy, Emma Clardy, Michael Dendy Callahan, and Andrew Callahan; and great grandchildren, Marley, Maddox, Mabree, Carter, and Ezra.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 1:00-2:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service with masonic rites will begin at 3:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Tom Owen officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Forest Hill Baptist Church, 909 Plantation Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
The family will be at the residence.
