IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dennis R.
Johnson
April 14, 1952 – July 31, 2025
Dennis R. Johnson, beloved brother, loyal friend and compassionate soul, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the age of 73. He will be remembered for his keen intelligence, razor sharp wit, love for the game of golf, reading, and his tender heart for animals.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army, carrying with him the discipline, strength, and quiet courage that marked so much of his life. He was fiercely devoted to those he loved.
He found peace and joy in the game of golf, from a young age, treasuring the challenge. It wasn't just a pastime, it was his sanctuary. He had an incredible sense of humor, always quick with a one-liner or a clever observation that could lift the mood of a room. Beneath that wit, he had a profoundly caring spirit. He gave loyalty and love to the people in his life.
A lifelong Clemson fan, he cheered on his Tigers with passion and pride, win or lose (but preferably win).
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Myra, and by his parents, Charles S. Johnson and Alma R. Johnson.
He is survived by his siblings, Charles "Chuck" S. Johnson (Karen) and Peggy J. Chamblee (John); nieces, Tara, Jillian and Kacie Chamblee; and close friends Tracy C. Kernels and Brennon Kernels.
Though he is no longer with us, his wit, wisdom, and unwavering kindness will live on in every smile he sparked and every heart he touched.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. No services are planned at this time.
In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to, Anderson County Humane Society, 407 Pearman Dairy Rd, Anderson, SC 29625, a cause close to his heart.
