Diann Elizabeth Watt Sweeney, age 69, of Starr, SC, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024, at MUSC Medical Center.
Born December 11, 1954, in San Jose, CA, she was a daughter of the late Donald L. Watt and Mary Louise Zwissler Watt. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bob Watt.
Diann was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member of Catholic Women Services (CWS). She was a talented artist and poet who was also a great cook. Among her many enjoyments were walking, camping, and being out in nature. Diann loved her family above all and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Daniel Sweeney; sons, Brian Sweeney (Michelle) and Matthew Sweeney (Ashlynn); daughters, Elizabeth Sweeney Diedrick (Shane) and Laura Sweeney Vorgic (Mark); grandchildren, Will, Aiden, Collin, Evan, Allison, and Kathrine; brothers, Steven Watt (Trish), David Watt (Sherry), and Christopher Watt (Ed); sisters, Kathy Gard and Cynthia Arias; and her dog Daisy.
A rosary will begin at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at The McDougald Funeral Home followed by visitation until 8:00 pm. The funeral mass will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Philip S. Gillespie as celebrant. A private burial will be held at a later date.
