Obituary

Dianne Cotney Calloway, 72, wife of Claude D. Calloway, of 101 Shadow Creek Lane, died, Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Rainey Hospice House. Born in Newberry, SC, she was the eldest daughter of Boyd and Vera Bedenbaugh Cotney of Newberry. She graduated from Newberry High School, Columbia School of Cosmetic Art and went on to graduate from Greenville Tech with a degree in Certified Dietary Food. Dianne's passion was children. She loved being around them. She worked in Newberry with Dr. Dufford for some time. Then, after moving to Anderson, she worked as Food Service Director at Clemson University, Anderson University and several school districts with children. To be surrounded by them gave her great joy. After her health worsened, she mentored students and helped as grade mother. She and Claude took her mother and father on many vacations which were enjoyed by all. One year after difficult health with her mother, they left for California and had a very special trip. One summer, they flew to Las Vegas. Those trips and many more were the greatest times she had with her parents. But the greatest children in her life and the center of her whole world were her children. She had one child, Michelle "Shelley" Carroll (Chad) and three grandchildren, Amanda A. Price, Grant Harrison Armstrong and Rylee Michelle Carroll; and two great-grandchildren, Collins and Eleanor Vera Price. They were the light of her and Claude's life, the meaning of their existence. She is also survived by a sister, Cynthia Morris (Ronny), a brother, Dean Cotney (Melody) and another sister, Donna C. Berley (Jim) all of Newberry, SC. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews which she cared deeply for. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 7, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor J. Chris Fischer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd, Anderson, SC 29621 or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 209 Broad St., Anderson, SC 29621.
