Louis Richard "Dick" Harris, age 77, of Anderson, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at Rainey Hospice House with his beloved wife, Vera, by his side. Born in Anderson on March 6, 1939, he was the son of the late Ben Pearman Harris and the late Elizabeth Graham Harris. Mr. Harris is a graduate of Anderson Boys' High School, Class of 1956. He then attended Clemson College, and subsequently graduated from Forrest College with an associate degree. Dick proudly served his country in the US Army at Nike Missile sites in Georgia and Germany. Mr. Harris was an employee at AnMed Health Medical Center for forty-five years in Data Processing, and later as Operations Manager of Information Services. Dick was a charter member of Centerville Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of Lay Ministers, a member of the Executive Committee, RA Leader, Sunday School Teacher and Trustee and member of the Adult Choir. Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Vera Weaver Harris of the residence, a special niece, Pamela Kipreos and her husband, Pete and children, Nicolas and Panos, all of Atlanta; a cousin Martha Jane Gentry, of Starr; and other nieces and nephews. Dick was the last surviving member of his immediate family. A Memorial Service to celebrate and honor the life of Dick Harris will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Centerville Baptist Church with Rev. Zane Talley officiating.
