Obituary

Richard K. "Dick" White, 90, loving husband of Lesley White of 47 years, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at his residence. Born March 20, 1930 in Mercer, PA, he was the son of the late Hugh William White and Mildred Nothstine White. Dick proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He earned his B.S. and M.S. from Pennsylvania State University, and a Ph.D. from Ohio State University; he also graduated from New York Theological Seminary. He worked as a Professor and Endowed Chair at Clemson University where he retired in 1998. He was a member of River of Life Church of God. In lieu of traditional pastoring, Dick led many Bible studies over the years, started a statewide prison ministry in Ohio helping inmates successfully transition upon release, and served on the Board of Trustees at Regent University for 18 years. In addition to his wife Lesley, Dick is survived by his children, Beth White (her husband Doug), Laura Hill (her husband Walter), and Sarah White; and five grandchildren, Ian, Kristen, Sean, Callista, and Carter. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters. There will be a private family funeral service with military honors. The burial will follow at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
