Richard Lee Dillard, age 87, of Pacolet, SC, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.

Born June 12, 1936, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Roy Lee Dillard and Jimmie Elouise Hodge Dillard. He was married for 61 years to Edith Louise Bowling Dillard until her death in 2021. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Michael Dillard.

Dickie was a graduate of Boys High School where he excelled at baseball. He entered the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years of service and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Tri-County Technical College. He was an avid fan of the Clemson Tigers and Atlanta Braves and was a supporter of all the minor league baseball teams. He was formerly a member of West Whitner Baptist Church. He loved his country and his family and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his children, Richard Bryan Dillard of Pacolet, SC, Teresa Diane Huffman of Woodstock, GA, and Roger Marion Dillard (Mona) of Snellville, GA; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 1:00 pm at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Chaplain Mike Linkins officiating. Military honors will be presented by Campbell Patriots.
