The McDougald Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 2211 North Main Street Anderson, South Carolina 29621 864-224-4343 OBITUARY: DON MITCHELL OCTOBER 29, 1950 - DECEMBER 15, 2012 IVA, SC Donnie Steve Mitchell, age 62, Iva., husband of Pamela McQueen Mitchell, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Anderson, SC his was the son of the late Claude Jessie Mitchell and the late Syble Aleta Burton Mitchell. He was a graduate of Crescent High School and Tri County Technical College. He worked for BASF for over 20 years, where he was a supervisor, and had also worked for Consolidation Southern Industries. Don was very involved in many community activities and organizations in the Iva area. Being an avid sportsman Don was involved in many of the sporting activities, and was the Crescent High School football announcer for over ten years. He was a dedicated and active member of the First Baptist Church of Iva, where he served as a deacon, a member of the men's brotherhood and the men's Sunday school class. He is survived by his wife of the home; sons, Justin Mitchell, Iva (Danica Quattlebaum of Lavonia), Zachary Mitchell (Jenna) of Anderson; grandchildren, Cody Robinson, Madison Mitchell, Braden Mitchell, Ledger Coley and Zephan Coley; siblings, Betty Norwood of Iva, Randolph Mitchell of Iva, Margie Trammell (George) of Iva and Dr. Kirt Mitchell ( Diane) of Anderson; mother-in-law, Syble McQueen of Seneca; sisters-in-law, Beverly Witherspoon of Seneca, Mitzi Dawson of Duluth, GA; brothers-in-law, Bryan McQueen of Westminster, Garland McQueen of Haymarket, VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Wilton Ray McQueen. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Iva, with the Reverend Jerry Gray, Dr. Kirt Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the Rocky River Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Mitchell will be placed in the church at 1:00 pm on Tuesday. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the First Baptist Church of Iva, on Monday, December 17, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
