Donnie Gene Glover, loving and devoted husband of Lou Reppert Glover for sixty-one years, passed away at home on July 16, 2016, surrounded by his family. Born in Charleston, WV on September 16, 1932, he was the son of the late Ellis Leo Glover and the late Sylvia Lee Childress Glover.
In addition to his wife, Lou, he is survived by one daughter, Paula L. Kolacki of Anderson; three sons, Thomas M. Glover and his wife, Betty, of Anderson, James S. Glover and his wife Shelley, of Detroit, MI, and William R. Glover and his wife, Cathi, of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren, Natalie, Zachary, Sarah, Hayden, Matthew, Asa, Mick, Andi, and Tessa; one great-grandchild, Caroline; two brothers, Richard A. Glover and his wife, Linda of Anderson, Ellis L. Glover and his wife, Angela, of Henryetta, OK; two sisters, Vonna S. Gallagher and her husband, Paul, of Anderson, and Annette L. Robertson and her husband, Jerry, of Gainesville, GA; a sister-in-law, Anna L. Casto and her husband, Steve, of Anderson; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Glover was preceded in death by a son, David Eugene Glover.
Mr. Glover was a graduate of West Virginia University in Mechanical Engineering. He was Vice President Area Manager for Owens Illinois Glass Container in Toledo, OH. Upon retirement he and Lou moved to Anderson where he started Glover Home Crafter, a custom home builder. Don built many custom homes in the Anderson area. He belonged to the Anderson Home Builders Association where he served as President. Mr. Glover was very active with Habitat for Humanity and served on its Board. He played high school and college baseball and was an avid golfer. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was active in the Wednesday Men's Bible Study. He was an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church, where he served on the Session in three churches.
The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Don G. Glover will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Anderson, with Reverend Dr. Dennis R. Tedder officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, July 22, 2016, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The family requests that flowers be omitted, and instead that contributions in memory of Mr. Glover be made to First Presbyterian Church, 302 W. Whitner Street, Anderson, SC 29621; or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621; or to National Parkinson Foundation, on-line at www.parkinson.org.
