Donnie Wayne Shirley, age 75, passed away peacefully, following an extended illness, on Thursday, November 12, 2015, at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Anderson, SC, on May 5, 1940, he was a loving son of the late S.D. Shirley and the late Leila Blanche Kelley Shirley. He worked for many years at Saylors Oil Company, eventually purchasing the business and changing the name to Dee Oil Company, which is where he retired in 2000 due to health reasons. Donnie was known for showing excellent customer service, taking extra special time with his elderly customers. He was a lifetime member of Ruff Lodge and was a member of Neals Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Janice Hayes Shirley; his children, Marty Dee Shirley and his wife Charlotte, of Anderson and Jennifer Shirley -Simmons and her husband Charlton, of Starr, SC; a brother, Jerry Shirley and his wife Faye; sisters, Linda Pierce, Jeanette Brooks and her husband Tommy, and Annette Shirley; four grandchildren, Lucas and William Shirley, Peyton and Pierce Simmons; and a special aunt, Evelyn Walls, of Tullahoma, TN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Ray Shirley and a sister, Carolyn Shirley. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at Neals Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Jason Dorriety and Reverend Sam Duncan officiating. Interment will follow at Neals Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the home of his sister, Annette Shirley, 105 Jeffrey Drive, Anderson, and will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the service.
