Donnie Sue Gaines Vickery, age 83, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at AnMed Medical Center.

Born April 5, 1943, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Donolee Gaines and MaeBelle Carter Gaines. She was married to Gary Lee Vickery until his death in 2010. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Michael Gaines (Pat) and Roger Gaines.

Sue enjoyed all of the beautiful things in the outdoors-gardening, her flower beds, and birds, especially hummingbirds. She loved her family, the many family gatherings and making her famous sweet meatballs. She was a member of Trinity Springs Church of God. Sue loved going to church and singing in the choir. She was a dedicated servant of the Lord. Sue loved southern gospel music and attended gospel singings at every opportunity. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Timothy Lee Vickery (Freda), Kimberly Vickery Standard (David), and Robbie Lynn Vickery (Michelle); sister, Ronda Coble (Delton); sister-in-law, Renee Gaines; grandchildren, Dustin, Trake (Lauren), Chance, Dallas (Madison), Nicholas, and Cady; and great grandchildren, Titus and Chloe.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 11:00 am at the residence, 3257 S. McDuffie St., Ext., Anderson, SC, with Rev. Brent Lollis officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Special prayer by Rev. Lanny Phillips.
