Doreen Parfitt Bromeling, age 90, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at the Rainey Hospice House.Born in Winchester, England on October 14, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Alfred James Parfitt and the late Winifred Watts Parfitt. She retired from DHEC after many years of service. She loved growing and arranging flowers and she enjoyed nature. A lifetime knitter, her greatest joy was to knit garments for her family. In later years she knitted sweaters and blankets for a project entitled "Knit for Kids" which were sent to World Vision. Doreen is a member of Latimer United Methodist Church in Belton.She is survived by her children, Loreen Silverahawk (Aldea), Janice Knox, Gary Bromeling (Bea), and Robert Bromeling (Margie); a sister, Gillian Wood (William); brothers, Jack Parfitt (Hazel), James Parfitt (Brenda), and Geoffrey Parfitt (Shirley); 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob S. Bromeling; a sister, Edwina Vokes; and two grandchildren, Andrea Albertson and Geoffrey Buffington.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Wallace Culp and Reverend Andy Bullions officiating.
