DORIS CATHEY SIMMONS August 14, 1926 - February 19, 2007ANDERSON, SCMrs. Doris Josephine Cathey Simmons, age 80, of Anderson Place, wife of the late John Berry Simmons, died Monday, February 19, 2007 at Brookside Living Center in Anderson.Born in Anderson County, SC on August 14, 1926, Mrs. Simmons was a daughter of the late Cecil Clayton Cathey and Gladys Grace Cole Cathey. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Nursing and had 30 years of service in the Cardiac Care Unit of Emory Hospital in Atlanta, GA. She was active in the Democratic Party for over 50 years and was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Clemson, SC. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Cathey Long.
