Doris Dudley Conwell Craine, age 88, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Summit Place of Anderson. Born October 6, 1934, in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Joel Dudley and Gertrude Nichols Dudley. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Charles H. Conwell; and brother, Ronald Dudley and his wife Linda. Doris was a graduate of Girls High and retired from Southern Bell with over 35 years of service with the company. She enjoyed doing church work all of her life and helped establish two Assembly Churches in Anderson and Hartwell, GA. She also served as a church organist and was a member of House of Prayer. She is survived by her husband, Thurmond C. Craine; sons, Stephen Conwell (Cathey) and Robert M. Conwell (Linda); daughters, Cynthia Nicholas (Bill) and Kimberly Howell (Robert); sister, Peggy Nation (Jerry); brother, Joey Jones (Patricia); 7 grandchildren, Stephanie Brown, Kevin Jones, Brandon Conwell, Jennifer Smith, Christopher Conwell, Dusty Conwell, and Seth Howell; and 9 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 14, 2023 from 1:30-2:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Jerry Nation, Rev. Mike Harrell, and Rev. Rodney Harbin officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted and memorial contributions may be made to PruittHealth Hospice, 1510 N.
