Obituary

Mrs. Doris Huddleston "Dot" Haddock died on Saturday, the 19th of January 2019, in Houston, with her family by her side. Dot was born on the 31st of May 1935, in Greenville, Mississippi, to Herbert and Doris Huddleston. Dot graduated from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia with a degree in European History. Dot was an avid reader, and gardener. She was a life-long active member of St. John's United Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher, Stephen's minister, and Pastor Parrish Committee member. In addition, Dot was a founding board member of the Greater Anderson Musical Arts Consortium (GAMAC), and Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson, South Carolina. Dot was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston since 2016 as a resident at the Buckingham Senior Living Community. Dot was predeceased by Dr. Samuel T. Haddock, and Julia Draper Haddock. She is survived by her brother, Herbert Hartwell Huddleston, Jr.; and her children, Ellen Chandler, Bill Haddock and Tom Haddock, and their families. A memorial service and celebration of her life is to be conducted at four o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 26th of January, in the chapel of St. Luke's United Methodist Church; 3471 Westheimer Road in Houston, where the Rev. Bill Denham, Pastor of Caring Ministries, is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the nearby Hines Baker room. Services will also be held in South Carolina and are to include a visitation with the family at half-past three o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 1st of February, in the parlor of St. John's United Methodist Church, 515 S. McDuffie St. in Anderson, where a memorial service and celebration of her life is to immediately follow at five o'clock. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in her name be directed to the Hospice of the Upstate, Inc., 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC, 29621.
