Virginia Doris Taylor McClain, age 85, entered her Heavenly home upon her death Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Rainey Hospice House. Born in Madison County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas A. Taylor and the late Annie Ruth Russum Taylor. Mrs. McClain retired after a 35 year career from Haynesworth Mill. She loved tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She had a fondness for hummingbirds which she enjoyed as they visited her feeder. Doris is of the Baptist faith. Survivors include 2 sons, Jerry Whiten (Martha), and James Ledford (Nancy), both of Anderson; 3 daughters, Patricia Ann Watson of Townville, Mary Elizabeth Beasley (Ray) of McDonough, GA, and Linda Erwin (Frankie) of Anderson; 2 sisters, Billie "Boots" McKinney of Anderson, and Betty Jean Walker (Don) of Greenwood; 7 grandchildren, Sharon Spake, Keith Whiten, Kristy Erwin, Holly Smith, Michael Ledford, Ray Beasley, Jr., and Crystal Ward; Also surviving are 10 great-grandchildren. The funeral service to celebrate the life of Doris McClain will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at 1 PM at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Brent Lollis officiating. Entombment will follow at the Mausoleum of Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family is at the residence of Holly and Daniel Smith, 220 Robertson Rd., Anderson, and will receive friends at the McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday from 11 AM until 12:30 PM.
