Doris Ann McCurry Smith, age 89, of Iva, SC, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021, at her home. Born June 6, 1932, in Lowndesville, SC, she was the daughter of the late J.L. "June" McCurry and Lula Evans McCurry. She was the widow of Robert Lee Smith. Doris spent her career in the textile industry and was of the Methodist faith. She is survived by her daughter, Marlene Hanks of Iva; brother, Bill McCurry (Barbara) of Iva; grandchildren, Brandon Hanks of Iva, and Brandi Hanks Ervin (Brian) of Anderson; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Hanks of Iva, and Garren Hanks of Anderson; and special nephew, Dwayne McLeskey (Theodore) of Augusta, GA. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James, Jack, and Burrell McCurry; and sister, Georgia Gray. A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Iva City Cemetery with Dr. James R. Gray officiating. The family will speak with guests immediately following the service.
