Born in Spartanburg County, on February 16, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Thomas D. Owens and Alice Burnett Owens. Mrs. Reed retired from BB&T Bank as Vice President, completing her 35 year banking career. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and did volunteer work for: AnMed Hospital, Good Neighbor Cupboard, where she was treasurer for 27 years and Hospice of the Upstate. She is survived by her husband of the home; daughters, Anne Skinner Woerner (Doug) of Liberty, SC, Jamie Connell Cheshire (Bubber) of Anderson, SC and Cindy Connell of Columbia; sons, Bill Connell (Debbie) of Anderson, SC, James Richard Reed of Greenville, SC and William C. Reed of Landrum, SC; sister, Mae Beach of Duncan, SC; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Tim Connell; sisters, Margaret Nix and Ruby Allison; brother, Thomas Owens, Jr; her first husband, William Eugene Skinner and her second husband, James C. Connell. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Ignatius Smith, OFM, officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will have a time of visitation following the service.
