Doris Hicks Simmons, age 73, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Anderson, SC on April 18, 1943, she was the daughter of the late James Lewis Hicks and the late Lola Swaney Hicks. She is survived by her loving sons, Victor Simmons and his wife Tara, and Chris Simmons; two sisters, Ann Alexander, and Ernestine Gambrell, all of Anderson, SC; a sister-in-law, Rachael Fowler Nelson, of Pendleton, SC; and five grandchildren, Caitlyn, Hannah, and Gavin Simmons and Matt and Faithann Jordan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anton Ashley Simmons, Jr. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Mr. Rob Hendrickson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29625.
