Obituary

Doris Cribbs Bellamy Simons, 95, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Novant Health in Huntersville, NC. A native of Anderson, SC, she was born January 9, 1922 to the late Walter and Ethel Cribbs and was the wife of the late Captain Glenn Gordon Bellamy and of the late Holmes Simons, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Julian and Terrell Cribbs and sisters Lois Carter, Elizabeth (Johnnie) Sukustis and Aline Delaney. Doris was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, SC. With her love of music, she sang in the choir for most of her life. She also served her church family in many different roles over the years. Doris was a hardworking, dedicated and loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Gaines; her children, Lynn Bellamy Ferns, Russell Simons and wife Carol, and Holmes Simons, III; grandchildren Steven Ferns and Julie Ferns Blanton and husband Dwayne; great grandchildren Zach, Caroline and Graham Blanton, as well as many nieces and nephews. The picture of southern grace and strength, she was always dedicated to her family and doing for others. She had a lifelong love of fishing, going to the beach, cooking and working in her yard. She retired from Springs Industries after more than 50 years of service. A graveside service to celebrate Mrs. Simons' life will take place on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2pm at New Silver Brook Cemetery in Anderson, SC.
