Doris Anderson Taylor, age 86, wife of B.J. "Bill" Taylor, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Rainey Hospice House. Born in Anderson, SC on July 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Claude A. and Nell Brown Anderson. Mrs. Taylor was a graduate of Girls High and Anderson College (now Anderson University). She received the Anderson College Alumni Service Award in April 2000. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, and the DORCAS Class for 44 years. During the time of her membership, she served on many church committees and was a member of the church Sanctuary Choir. She was an organist in her home church, and in later years served as a substitute organist in several local churches. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, decorating her home, and working in her flower garden. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, B.J. "Bill" Taylor; son, Ted Taylor and his wife Mary, and their son, Hayden; daughter, Nancy T. Wilson and her son, Taylor Cox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, and one brother. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A service celebrating Doris's life will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 3, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. with the Reverend James R. Thomason officiating. A private family committal will be held at New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home, prior to the service on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 307 S Manning St, Anderson, SC 29624.
