Hewlett of Jefferson, New York, died November 8, 2009, at NHC in Anderson, SC.Mrs. Hewlett was born in Farmington, CT, May 30, 1913, the daughter of Howard and Gertrude Porter. She attended New Britain Schools and graduated from the University of New York College of Education at Oneonta in 1960.She taught school in Jefferson and Middleburg, NY, and upon retirement substituted in local schools. She was the past matron of the Order of Eastern Star and member of the teachers' honor society, Delta Kappa Gamma, an international teacher organization. She was past president of the Women's Church Club of New Fairfield, CT, and was active in the Candlewood Play House. In Bradenton, FL, she was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church, was a staunch supporter of the South Eastern Guide Dog School, and volunteered at the Bradenton Library.Mrs. Hewlett is survived by a son, Barry N. Hewlett; three granddaughters; and two grandsons.In keeping with Mrs. Hewlett's wishes ' there will be no funeral service.
