Dorothy Irene Jones Kirby, 82, of Anderson, SC passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Ellenburg Nursing Center. Born September 20, 1935 in Hartwell, GA, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Oscar C. Jones and the late Agnes Allen Jones. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Furman Kirby; son, Barry Wayne Kirby; sisters, Mattie Lee Dean, Fay Bowman, Ruby McCurley and Betty Anderson and grandson, Matthew Kirby. She retired in 1997 with over 20 years of service from Nevitt Forest Elementary School in Anderson District 5. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Randy Eugene Kirby (Vicki) of Simpsonville, SC and Ricky Wayne Kirby (Dawn) of Anderson, SC; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be in the chapel at Noon, Wednesday, March 28, 2018 with Dr. Kirt Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
