Dorothy Smith Anderson, SC Dorothy Hawkins Smith, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at her residence. Born in Anderson, SC on October 29, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James Allen Hawkins and the late Anna Marie Moorehead Hawkins. Dorothy earned a master's degree in education and began her career at Anderson School District 5, teaching third grade for 22 years until her retirement. She was a lover of music and taught private lessons in guitar, organ, and piano. She was a member of Centerville Baptist Church and was a former Sunday School Teacher and active in the WMU. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Waylon B. Smith, a daughter, Zudie Brown and her husband Tommy, of Anderson, SC; a sister, Olga Wooster, of Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren, Jeremy Rogers and Timothy Rogers; five nephews and seven nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Wayne Rogers; two brothers, and two sisters. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Robbie Smith officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
