Dorothy Ruth Toney Wardlaw, age 83, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

Born September 16, 1942, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Toney and Amber Lee Goodwin Toney. She was married for 53 years to Ray Donald Wardlaw, Sr. until his death in 2013. She was also preceded in death by a son, Wendell Dean Wardlaw; daughter, Sheila Henry; a granddaughter, Victoria Lynn Wardlaw; and 5 brothers and sisters.

Ruth was employed with BASF for over 20 years before retiring. She was a faithful member of Belmont Church of God of Prophecy. A favorite pastime was gardening flowers. She loved being Nana to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and making lasting memories with them all. Her family was so special to her and caring for them brought her immense joy. She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory.

She is survived by her son, Ray Donald "Donnie" Wardlaw, Jr. (Debbie); sister, Mary Louise Farmer; grandchildren, Christy Wardlaw Rhodes (Justin), Dillon Ray Wardlaw (Candace), Jonathan Henry (Griffin), and Marc Henry (Hanna); and great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Rhodes, Callie Rhodes, JonBrian Henry, and Colin Henry.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 1:30-3:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:30 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Alan Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery.
