DOROTHY THOMPSON YATES ANDERSON, SC Dorothy Thompson Yates, age 90, of 808 Yates Circle, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Lawrence Thompson and the late Lillian Nimmons Thompson, being the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was an employee at Equinox Mill for over 40 years. She retired from Ryan's as a Hostess after 11 years of service, where she was known affectionately as "Miss Dorothy". She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Dorothy was also a very active member of the Keenagers of Concord Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, T. Randy Yates, Brenda McKee and her husband, Dennis, Freda Burdette and her husband Steve; eight grandchildren who she deeply loved and who lovingly called her "Granny Yates", Brian McKee, Jeffery (Rayetta) McKee, Joel (Krystal) McKee, Hal McKee, Steven (Jade) Burdette, Crystal (William) Crawford, Angela (Donnie) Pardue and April McGuffin; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Frances A. Thompson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thamer Calhoun Yates; two brothers, Denver and Dalton Thompson; and a sister, Dixie Powell. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 12:30 PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with the Reverends Dale Bradley and Bill Parnell officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The Keenagers of Concord Baptist Church will serve as Honorary Escort. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 23, 2013. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Harry Morse, Dr. Louis Knoepp, and the staff of Hospice of the Upstate for the loving care provided for their mother.
