Dorsey Edgar Keys, Jr., 76, of Williamston, SC, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Edgar was born in Pickens County, SC, the only son of the late Dorsey Edgar Keys, Sr. and the late Ollie Melissa Simmons Keys. Edgar worked for over 20 years with the American Monorail Company in Fountain Inn, SC. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Pelzer SC, where he served as a greeter. Edgar loved his position as greeter and always gave a hug and smile with every bulletin. He was special for many reasons. Born in a family full of girls, he was loved and cherished. And being the only son, his parents doted on him. He had a close-knit bond with his family and served as an inspiration to everyone. To quote his sisters, " If everyone could see the world as Edgar did, having a childlike mind, this world would be a much better place." Edgar is survived by his sisters, Mary Lou Cason (James), Carolyn Fisher, and Evelyn Effler (Jim); and many precious nieces and nephews, who he loved and treated like his own. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Betty Sue Harvey. A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Richard Burton and Rev. Robert Parris officiating. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service. He will lie in state at the McDougald Funeral Home Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 10 am - 4 pm. New Hope Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Social distancing will be observed and masks are requested. Many special thanks to the nurses at AnMed Health Medical Center and the many meals he received from Meals on Wheels.
