DOT ARMEN February 28, 1927 - November 5, 2005ANDERSON, SCMrs. Dot Armen, age 78, wife of Dr. Ardy Armen of 206 Timberlake Road, Anderson, SC, died Saturday, November 5, 2005 at her residence.Born in Iselin, New Jersey on February 28, 1927, Mrs. Armen was a graduate of Bethany College, Bethany, West Virginia with a major in Biology. As a laboratory technician, she did pioneering work on one of the earliest electron microscopes at Sawtelle Hospital in Los Angeles in the early 1950's. She had been active in the League of Women Voters, the Heritage Garden Club, the Cardinal Racquet Club, the Ladies Golf Association at the Anderson County Club, the Anderson Duplicate Bridge Community and was a member of the Western Carolina Sailing Club. She also belonged to the Friends of the Library and the Anderson County Arts Center. She was an avid swimmer and loved art, literature, music and fishing. Mrs. Armen was a Catholic. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Dr. Ardy Armen of the home; son, Dr. Glenn Armen and his wife, Terri of Houston, TX; daughter, Diane Barbara Lee and her husband, Steve of Camden, SC; four grandchildren, Micah Lee of Greensburg, PA Nathan Lee of Fredericksburg, VA; Melanie Lee at Clemson University and David Lee, of Camden, SC.A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at 5:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by Father David Hyman.The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.A message of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting www.mcdougaldfuneralhome.comTHE MC DOUGALD FUNERAL HOME IS IN CHARGE OF ARRANGEMENTS.
