Dorothy Smith Landers, age 78, of Anderson, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville. Born December 12, 1944, in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Leroy Earl Smith and Margaret Radford Smith. Dottie was married to Terrill "Terry" Landers until his death in 2017. Dottie graduated from T.L. Hanna, class of 1963, and Forrest College. In August of 1963 she married her soulmate, US Army First Sergeant Terry Landers. They spent many years stationed in Germany where two of their children were born. Terry served our country through the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. Dottie was the epitome of a military spouse. She made friends easily with her sense of humor. Dottie served veterans at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Home until she retired in 2005. She was a member of Orrville Baptist Church. Dottie was an active member of Hanna Gals and Women's Missionary Union at Orrville Baptist Church. She loved traveling; cruises, day trips, or anything involving her family and "going". She energized herself by spending countless hours in her flower beds and she ended each day reading. Dottie was a people person, and her favorite people were her three grandchildren. Nonnie doted on Bailee, Carter, and Lillie with unconditional love, pride, and delight. Left to cherish her memory are children Karen Powell (Robbie) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Penny Vassar (Chris) and Tomasas "Tommi" Jordan (Russell) of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Bailee Parris Jordan, Carter Landon Jordan, and Lillian Rose Vassar. The family will greet friends and family on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Orrville Baptist Church, now known as Upstate Church Anderson, 2620 S. Main St., Anderson, SC, from 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Reverend Larry Sizemore officiating. The concluding service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, where Dottie will be laid to rest beside her beloved Terry. The family will be at their respective homes.
