Dorothy Jane Dowis, age 80, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Linley Park Post-Acute.

Born September 30, 1943, in Royston, GA, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee Dowis and Dorothy Rebecca Chappelear Dowis. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Joel Eric Dowis, and Judy Faye Holmes; and nephews, Michael Dowis and Mark Holmes.

Dotty enjoyed sitting with people, and in her younger years riding her bicycle, and power walking through the neighborhood often stopping and talking to her neighbors. She also enjoyed sharing her crafting talents for making Christmas ornaments, needle point, and embroidery. She loved watching Dr. Charles Stanley's sermons on TV.

She is survived by her brother, Sidney Dowis (Libby); nephews, Jason Dowis, Donald Dowis, Robert Dowis, Brian Dowis, and Allen Holmes; and many great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Linley Park Post-Acute and Hospice of the Upstate for the wonderful care provided to Dotty.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 am at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am in the Chapel with Rev. Tony Tilley officiating. Burial will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
