DOUG BRYANT April 27, 1944 - June 18, 2013 James Douglas Bryant, age 69, of Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late J.T. Bryant and the late Grace Parnell Bryant. He was a graduate of Belton High School, Class of 1961. He also attended Clemson College for two years, now known as Clemson University. From 1964 - 1979, he served in the 111th Signal Battalion, SCARNG, Belton, SC. Doug retired from Anderson County Farm Bereau on December 31, 2008 after 19 years of service. He was a faithful member of Long Branch Baptist Church where he served as long-time Sunday School Director, Deacon and other Committee Chairman. He had a great love for his Pastor, his Pastor's family and his Church family. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandy Bryant; three sons, Greg Bryant and his wife Kelley, of Anderson, SC, Keith Bryant and his wife Karen, of Woodruff, SC, and Kevin Bryant and his wife Allison, of Belton, SC; nine grandchildren, Grayson, Reid, Meredith, Blake, Morgan, Kristin, Jackson, Neil, and Molly Bryant; a sister, Brenda Barton, of Anderson, SC; two brothers, CMSgt (ret) Dan Bryant and his wife Debbie and Pastor Hulon Bryant and his wife Lynn, all of Belton, SC; and his mother-in-law, Inez King, of Honea Path, SC; Doug is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who also knew and loved him as "Papa Doug". In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Bryant; father-in-law, Raymond King and his brother-in-law, Charles Barton. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Long Branch Baptist Church with Reverend Wayne Watson, Pastor Hulon Bryant, and Reverend Dr. Mitch Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Honorary escorts will be the Farm Bureau Insurance and Broadway Water and Sewer Board of Directors. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
