William Douglas "Doug" Gambrell, 82 of Pendleton, SC passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018 at his home. Born September 20, 1935 in Anderson, SC, Doug was a son of the late Floyd Gambrell and the late Floree Wells Gambrell. He was also preceded in death by his wife Jackie Ann Burdette Gambrell; son, David Gambrell; siblings Billy Gambrell, Pasty McClellan, Nancy Stedman, Benny Gambrell, Terry Gambrell, Jerry Gambrell, and Linda Wimpy. Doug retired after 48 years of service from the Milliken Company. He was a huge NASCAR fan, Clemson Tigers fan, loved country music, gardening and landscaping. He is survived by his son, Richard Douglas Gambrell of Central, SC; daughters Sherri Diane Fowler of Anderson, SC and Nancy Martin of Pendleton, SC; brothers, Joe Gambrell (Dee) of NC, Tommy Gambrell (Gail) and Larry Gambrell all of Anderson; sisters, Jean Leopard; grandchildren, Douglas Lee Gambrell, Amy Gambrell and Zarah Fowler The family will receive friends from 12-1:30 pm Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the home of Nancy Martin, 909 Chester Circle, Pendleton, SC 29670. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm Thursday at Fants Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating.
