DOUGLAS W. DYAR, SR.
Douglas Wayne Dyar, Sr., age 80, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away at his residence on Thursday, May 29, 2014. Born on July 5, 1933, in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Rev. Joseph C. Dyar and the late Grace Teasley Dyar.
Following graduation from high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force where he served his country with distinction until his retirement after 20 years of service. While serving in the military, he earned his B.S. Degree in Business Administration. Later he was in automobile sales for approximately 20 years. Mr. Dyar was a member of Rosewood Baptist Church in Columbia.
Survivors include 2 sons, Douglas W. Dyar, Jr., and wife, Kim, and Joseph T. Dyar and wife Pam, both of Myrtle Beach. 3 sisters, Jeannie Brabham and husband, Carl of Greensboro, NC, Gloria Wingard and husband, Jim, of Chester, SC, and Patricia Brewer and husband, Bill, of Raleigh, NC; 3 grandchildren, Alicia Goode and husband Jonathan, Courtney Dyar and Drew Dyar; also surviving are 2 step granddaughters and 2 step great-grandsons. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dyar was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Dyar, who died in infancy.
A Graveside Service to honor and celebrate the life of Douglas W. Dyar, Sr. will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at 2 p.m. at New Silver Brook Cemetery in Anderson, with Air Force Chaplain LTC Steve Mayes officiating and with full military honors. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at New Silver Brook.
