COX May 24, 1929 - February 2, 2009PELZER, SCDouglas McDonald Cox, age 79 of 104 Colonial Drive, Pelzer, SC, husband of the late Litha Cox, died on Monday, February 02, 2009 at his residence.Born in Loris, SC on May 24, 1929, Mr. Cox was a son of the late Burnice Joe Cox and Katealeen Marlowe Cox. He was graduate of Loris High School and worked together with his wife in their family business, The Cox Company of Pelzer. He and his wife had a campground ministry at Cullasaja River Camp Ground, Franklin, NC, which they had been involved for the past 13 years. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, Easley, SC. He is survived by a daughter, Janet Simmons and her husband, Terry of Williamston, SC and a son, Terry Austin Cox and his wife, Bobbie of Fairbanks, Alaska; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold Cox of North Carolina and Willard Cox of Columbia, SC and a sister, Margaret Cox Huckaby of Augusta, GA.In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Joe Burnice Cox and two sisters, Mary Cox Saddlemire and Ann Cox Gage.The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Dr. David Gallamore and Reverend Harold Sanders. Entombment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be mad to the Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or the Christian Learning Center of the Upstate, 210-A Mt.
