Main Street Anderson, SC 29621PAID OBITUARYFLAG STEPHEN CUTHBERT MAY, JR., MD November 19, 1927 - October 18, 2005ANDERSON, SCDr. Stephen Cuthbert May, Jr., age 77, husband of Nancy Shaw May of 112 Green Chase East, Anderson, SC, died Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at the AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC.Born in Atlanta, GA on November 19, 1927, Dr. May was the son of the late Stephen C. May, Sr., and Mary Merritt May. After graduating from Oglethorpe University, Dr. May served in the United States Army. In 1956, he then graduated from the Medical College of Georgia where he was president of his class. He served his internship in Bethesda, Maryland and retired as a medical doctor in Kennesaw, Georgia after 35 years of service. While practicing in Georgia, Dr. May served as president of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians, was an active member of the Kiwanis Club, and member of St. James Episcopal Church. He enjoyed sailing, flying, hunting, fishing, golfing and traveling. He was the co-owner of Cobbs Glen Country Club in Anderson.Survivors include his wife, Nancy Shaw May of the home; sons, Stephen C. May, III and his wife, Joanne of Dallas, GA and Wade T. May and his wife, Anita B., of Anderson, SC; a daughter, Lisa May Hatcher and her husband, Robert of Kennesaw, GA and six grandchildren, Stephen and Julia Hatcher, Jeffrey and Andrew May, & Erin and Hayden May.A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2005 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.The family will be at the residence.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 E.
