HENNES March 25, 1926 - February 21, 2009John Henry Hennes, 82, of 114 Life Style Lane, passed away, Saturday, February 21, 2009, at the AnMed Health Medical Center.Born March 25, 1926 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late John Henry Hennes and Mable Margaret Vognild.Dr. Hennes served his country in the United States Navy from 1943 until 1946, in the Pacific Theatre, during World War II. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and his PhD in Chemistry from Kansas State University. He retired from BASF, with over 30 years of service as a research chemist.Dr. Hennes, a resident of Anderson since 1970, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was an active member with the Anderson Community Theatre.Surviving are his wife Margaret Ann Monteith Hennes, of the home; two sons, John H. Hennes of Spartanburg, SC and Richard Scott Hennes (Maria C.) of High Point, NC; two daughters, Sara Suzanne Hennes of High Point, NC and Lisa K. Hennes Weber (Robert D. Weber, Jr.) of Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren, Marcy O'Brien (Sean), Jonathan Hennes, Allison Gall, Jana Weber and Carie Weber; two great-grandchildren, Madison O'Brien and Luke O'Brien. Also surviving are two sisters, Priscilla Quackenbush of Huntington Beach, CA and Lois Hennes Hill of Chicago, IL. Preceding him in death was a brother, Richard V. Hennes.A celebration of life will be held, Tuesday, February 24, 2009, from 6 until 8 o'clock, in the Ravines Club House.
