ALBERT OWEN MEREDITH, JR.FEBRUARY 3, 1927 - AuguST 17, 2007 ANDERSON, SC Dr. Albert Owen Meredith, Jr., age 80, of 225 Shady Lane died on Friday, August 17, 2007 at National Healthcare of Anderson. Born in Hartwell, Georgia on February 3, 1927, he was a son of the late Dr. Albert O. Meredith and Annice Poole Meredith. Dr. Meredith was a veteran of World War II. He was also a graduate of the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia, where he served as president of his class. He was also a member of Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical fraternity. Dr. Meredith retired from the practice of Radiology at Anderson Memorial Hospital after thirty-five years of service, having also served one year as Chief of Staff. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Janie White Meredith of the home, he is survived by a daughter, Michele Meredith Stotter of Duluth, Georgia and a son, Douglas Owen Meredith and his wife, Kitt of Powdersville, South Carolina; and one sister, Martha M. Slaughter of Kingsport, Tennessee. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Meredith Sheffield and her husband Jack, Joanna Stotter, Andrew Meredith, Katelyn Meredith, and Kelly Meredith. Dr. Meredith was preceded in death by his parents and also a sister, the late Elizabeth M. Leard. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, August 20, 2007 at 10:00 am at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, with the Reverend Paul Frey officiating.
