Dr. Ronald "Bird" Douglas Burriss, II, age 58, of Fort Worth, TX, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
Born March 26, 1966, in Anderson, SC, he was a son of Betty Jo Chambers Burriss and the late Ronald Douglas Burriss.
Ronald was a graduate of Clemson University where he earned his Master of Arts degree in History in 2004. He furthered his education at Texas Christian University where he earned his Doctor of Philosophy in History in 2015. He was employed with the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) as Operations Specialist.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his two brothers, David Burriss (Martha) and Russell Burriss.
He was loved by his family, work family and friends far and near! He enjoyed and looked forward to beach trips with his mom. He was an avid Yamaha Bolt motorcycle enthusiast and took pleasure in exploring Texas with his friends. Further, he delighted in boxing, cigars, coffee, writing, telling stories, sharing insightful information, and his vast knowledge of history. What's more he fondly remembered his cats Cool Breeze and Thelonious. .
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 10:00-10:45 am EST at the Welcome Center of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am EST in the Sanctuary with Dr. Dennis Tedder officiating. The service will also be made available live stream on their YouTube page https://www.youtube.com/@firstpresbyterianchurchofa2991/streams or via their website at https://firstpresanderson.org/home/live-stream/ . The family will have a private burial following at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
