Dr. Tommye Burrough Clifton, age 79, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born April 27, 1946, in New Orleans, LA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Edwin Bunker and Ruth Thompson Bunker. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Billy Bunker and John Gower, and sister, Linda Danneman.

Tommye received her PhD in adult education and was a passionate advocate for educating young minds. Throughout her career, she taught in classrooms, was a grant writer to strengthen her local community and a compassionate counselor who imparted her wisdom with so many. A talented and creative spirit, she found joy in cooking for those she loved and was an avid reader who treasured a good book. Her hands were rarely still—she delighted in crafting, knitting, and crocheting, sharing her handmade creations with family and friends. But what she will be remembered most for is her unwavering faith and commitment to sharing the love of Jesus with everyone she met.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Roger Clifton; daughters, Laurel Deloney and Allison Myrick (and her husband, CJ); and her beloved grandchildren, Anna Beth and Jackson Deloney.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm on Friday, November 28, 2025 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm on Friday in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Brent Lollis officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Memphis, TN.
