DR. ROBERT S. WATSON July 30, 1939 - July 11, 2012 Dr. Robert Stone Watson, age 72, of 109 Bentz Road, Piedmont, SC, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Born in Syracuse, NY, he was a son of the late Harry Powell Watson and the late Mary Stone Watson. For 44 years he was married to Linda Reeves Watson of Anderson. Dr. Watson was a graduate of the Union College and also a graduate of the University of South Carolina where he received a PhD in Education. Before his lengthy career in education, he was a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Gary, IN and Kansas City, KS. He began his education career as a high school English teacher. Later he served as an Assistant Principal of Westside High School in Anderson, SC, Principal at Crescent High School in Starr, SC, Assistant Superintendent of the Horry County Schools, Superintendent of the Greenwood City School System, and Superintendent of the Traverse City MI School System. After retiring from his education career, he established a consulting firm, Safe Schools America, Inc where he co-authored two books. He also enjoyed farming for 16 years at the family farm in Starr, SC. Dr. Watson served his nation proudly in the US Coast Guard. Left to carry on Dr. Watson's legacy are 4 sons, Reeves S. Watson of New York, NY, James A. Watson and Cindy B. Watson of Roswell, GA, Robert E. Watson and Tammy W. Watson of Blythewood, SC, Daniel S. Watson and Lynn H. Watson of Simpsonville, SC; 4 brothers, Dr. Rollin J. Watson of Somerset, KY, Dr. Douglas J. Watson of Auburn, AL, Harry P. Watson of Snow Hill, MD, and Donald M. Watson of Bowie, MD; 2 sisters Ruth Lancaster and Sara Watson, both of Dayton, OH. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren. A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Dr. Robert S. Watson will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 2 PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. The family will share time with friends following the service.
